London

Урок в 6-м классе (УМК К.Кауфман, М.Кауфман, Happy English.ru Титул, 2003)

Цели:

a) активизировать лексику по теме “Лондон”;

b) развивать умения и навыки по аудированию, говорению, чтению;

c) развивать познавательный интерес, инициативу в осуществлении иноязычной речевой деятельности;

d) воспитывать уважение к культуре Великобритании.

Ход урока

1. Оргмомент

Teacher: Good afternoon my friends! Good afternoon our guests! Today we have an unusual lesson.

2. Введение в тему

Teacher: Today we’ll go around London. I hope you will be polite and friendly, helpful and kind. You should be very attentive today and at the end of our lesson you’ll have to fill in the blanks in the “London sightseeing” quiz.

But first listen to our mates, and answer: What sights of London are they speaking about?

A: I say. I am going to London in few days.

B: I hope you enjoy your trip to London.

A: Let`s hope for the best. I’d like you to tell me something about London.

B: With great pleasure. I visited London last year. Is it your first trip to London?

A: Yes, it is.

B: I must tell you that there are many interesting places in the capital.

A: What do you advise me to begin with?

B: The Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. You should see London’s bridges and watch the Changing of the Guard.

A: Thank you for your information. I’ll follow your advice.

B: Not at all. Good luck.

Teacher: So, what sights of London are they speaking about?

Teacher: Thank you. I see you know many sights of London. But today our computer helps us to see some of them. The best way to see London is to travel by bus. But before our tour you must buy a ticket and answer the questions. It`ll be your busfare. After that our bus will go. You can help your friends to answer.

Teacher: I think you know a lot about London. But before our first stop, do the task.

Teacher: Read the text and find the mistakes in it. Read the right variant.

London

a) London is the capital of Scotland. It is very large and old. London is one hundred years old. More than 1 million people live here. London stands on the river Clyde.

b) London is a port and a beautiful city with large squares and parks. The Clyde is not a long river.

c) There are only two museums in London. The symbol of London is Big Ben. It is a man. There are many interesting places. Tourists like to visit the Tower. They can see many dinosaurs there. Children like to visit the London Zoo. It is not very big, but interesting.

Teacher: Good for you! London is a wonderful city, which unites the past, the present and the future. But its past and history make it one of the most charming cities in the world. Red double-decker buses are a symbol of London. Our bus likes very happy children. Let’s sing a song.

Teacher: So, we are coming to the start of our excursion. Listen to our guides and be attentive. There is a map in front of you. Pick out each of the sights of London on your map. Listen, please. We are beginning.

Teacher: I am sorry to say our excursion is coming to an end. I hope you want to tell your friends and parents about it.

11. Домашнее задание

Teacher: Variant 1 has questions to the telephone conversation about our tour to London.

Variant 2 has some answers. You should ask and answer the questions on the card. At the next lesson we’ll act out the dialogues about your trip to London.
