Уважаемая редакция!

Хочу поделиться своим опытом проведения уроков с детьми младшего школьного возраста.
Уверен, что каждый учитель заинтересован в том, чтобы ребенок, пришедший на урок, не только хорошо усвоил материал, но и чувствовал себя на уроке комфортно, чтобы ему было интересно, чтобы он включал не только свое внимание и старание, но и чтобы работали его фантазия, чувства, мысли.
И, несмотря на обилие методической литературы, новых прогрессивных методик, уверен, что и учителю на уроке отводится далеко не последняя роль. Многое зависит от того, как он подаст тот или иной материал, какими средствами воспользуется, что предпримет. И все это только для одной конечной цели – научить ребенка. Научить, заинтересовав, удивив, и т.д.
Особенно тяжело, как мне кажется, приходится учителям, работающим с детьми младшего школьного возраста. Вот где важно увлечь ребенка и создать все условия, чтобы он полностью погрузился в атмосферу урока.
Сегодня мне хочется рассказать об одном моменте такого урока, который был проведен мною в 3 классе.
Тема урока: “The Past Simple Tense. The Verb to be”. Мы впервые столкнулись с изучением прошедшего времени, поэтому, чтобы воссоздать обстановку прошлого, я начал свой рассказ так:
“It was a long time ago. There was no electricity”. (При этом я выключаю в классе свет и зажигаю свечи) “There weren’t any computers, TVs, and radios”. (Прикрываю плотной тканью телевизор, магнитофон и компьютер, стоящие в классе.) “There weren’t any telephones, but there was the post”. Внезапно раздается стук в дверь и заходит человек в униформе английского почтальона ХIХ века: “Hello. Is this the 3rd form “A”? I’ve got a parcel for you from The Past”. Вручает конверт и уходит. Я вскрываю конверт и читаю письмо:
“Dear friends! We want to ask you to solve a big problem. We live in a small village and one of our children goes to the forest. He meets a giant dragon there. The dragon is a wizard. The wicked wizard makes us give out all our children to him. Help us! He wants you to find out about The Past”.
“Well let’s help them!” – предлагаю я.
После этого я приступаю к основному ходу урока. Мои ученики подготовлены, они хотят спасти детей из прошлого, поэтому с необыкновенным усердием принимаются за изучение грамматики. И теперь она не кажется им такой скучной и нудной.
А пока, до свидания! Пойду готовиться к следующему уроку.

Dear “English”,

Having read the article “What makes a good teacher?” I’d like to express my opinion concerning this question.
It’s difficult to give a direct answer to this question, because a good teacher isn’t only a professional possessing a good knowledge of English. To teach well, teachers need to be true to themselves, because while teaching we express our personalities. Every teacher is a unique person and the times require from him (her) to be creative and highly educated.
A good teacher chooses his own way in motivating students and of involving them in the creative process. This gives opportunities for active and conscious learning.
John Joubert’s words: “To teach is to learn twice” mean that teachers who are constantly learning themselves are able to develop in their students a burning desire for learning.
It’s true. Teaching is an art. Art lives long, it never dies; we can say the same about teaching, as teaching methods are various and endless, they are forever being improved.
A good teacher creates a learning environment for students, providing them with the tools they need to be successful.
As the proverb says: “Give a person a fish and you will feed him for a day, if you show him how to fish, you will feed him for the rest of his life.”
That means that teachers not only pass on knowledge in a certain subject, but they show students its importance for their future life. The students need to know that what they are doing is important. The knowledge they gain at school will be helpful for their future.
Teachers should be human; they should have a passion for teaching. To keep passion alive, they must continue to learn. A good teacher thirsts for knowledge, new ideas, and more productive strategies in order “to open the doors to success”.
Being open to new ideas helps teachers to create the best learning environment. Anyone who stops learning is old. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young. So there’s no age limit to learning.
Success in teaching is the result of the joint cooperative, effective work of teachers and students in gaining knowledge. The chance for success is multiplied if a teacher enjoys what he or she does.
