YOUTH ENGLISH SECTIONS

Happy New Year!

Dear Readers!

First of all, members of Yes-Club would like to wish you a Happy New Year! It is difficult to realize how fast the time is going and it is 2006 already. However, we do not have any reason to get discouraged. With time we are becoming wiser, stronger and capable of doing more and better things. We wish you all the best, lots of strength, a desire to work hard and achieve your goals, and great success in all your endeavors.

For us, this New Year brings lots of interesting activities into the work of our fine club and we hope they will win your favour. Since this issue our YES-page will be enlarged up to 4 pages and we have the courage to promise you to publish the most useful and exciting articles, launching new regular columns, as well as publishing special issues devoted to one topic, which is of great importance for young people, our country and the world in general. For this great challenge we would like to thank our new team, the YES-Editorial Board that consists of four talented, creative and ambitious young ladies accompanied by a young gentlemen (Tatyana Komarova, Katya Krasovskaya, Olga Vasilyeva, Temur Jamanidze). As volunteers, they are eager to put much effort into improving our YES-journalism activities and to revive the old traditions of the YES-page. However, we really need your help and we would like to encourage you to send articles to us on the topics that appeal to you most. The only advice we can give is to write first of all your personal thoughts and ideas, as the mission of our YES-page is to help people understand and think over the real problems that bother you, and of course your personal attitudes towards them.

More good news from Yes-Club as a New Year present is our web-site, that we have finally created and continue improving – www.yes-club.org . Here you will find complete information about the whole concept of our club, information about our activities and speakers and current news. We are working very hard on making our meetings exciting and fruitful, the network of our speakers is growing day-by-day and you are always more then welcome to join us! Do not worry about the level of English language you have – we are all here to improve, overcome our shyness. Make a decision and come to us on the nearest Wednesday – you will not regret it! Unfortunately, we hold meetings in Moscow only. However, if you like our activities, share our ideas and want to make your contribution to our mission “to unity and develop through learning and understanding each other”, do not hesitate to start a Yes-Club in your city, contact us and we will help you to make your dream come true. It is always difficult to make a daring start, but your initiative will pay off!

Our final New Year surprise is some news from our speakers. Starting this autumn we asked our speakers to leave their short messages to us in the Yes-Club guest-book and we decided to share them with you. There are so many thanks and praises, that we even feel a little bit embarrassed. To overcome shyness and become self-confident is one of our goals though. So, enjoy reading!

To everyone at the Club!

It was a pleasure sharing my experience with you this evening and hope I was able to impart to you some fresh prospective of England and my impressions of your great city! You are all lucky to live in Moscow and I very much look forward to my 3 years here. However, I have to travel and it will all broaden my experiences. So make the most of opportunities that cross your path.

This is a great experience for me, I hope it was for you too! Moscow is an amazing place, as well as Tokyo. I hope the relationships between our two countries will be better in the future!

Thank you very much for inviting me!!! It was a very nice time and I was happy to answer your questions. It is good that people are interested in construction and the life of visitors to their country. Also I think the club is a good forum for people to get together. I look forward to coming back with my Irish Uncle.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in your meeting. Before I came I really didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Everyone was very friendly and spoke English fantastically. I hope you all have learned something new this evening, as I certainly did – both about Russia and England. I wish you all the best of luck in the future.

Thank you for the chance to share about Australia in your meeting and for lots and lots of questions!!! I was really impressed with how well everyone speaks English and surprised how much so many people already know about Australia, whether because friends lived in Australia or had studied at University. I’m really glad I came – a great way to spend a Wednesday evening.

Robert Ward,

First of all I would like to thank you warmly for inviting me today. It was really an honor for me and I had a great time. My advice to you is to keep doing this. I wish you success in the near future!
