I. Listen to the text.

ARE BOYS FROM YOUR SCHOOL THE SAME?

We don’t make friends with our boys. We don’t have similar interests.
Our boys spend so much time playing stupid computer games that they live in a virtual world. They adore horror films. When girls talk about computers, they discuss programs they use for learning, but boys simply talk about computer games. When girls talk their problems through, boys talk how to defeat monsters with laser guns in a new computer game.

Nastya

Decide whether these statements are true or false according to the text.

1. Boys are not friendly.
2. Boys and girls have different interests.
3. Girls use computers for learning.
4. In Nastya’s opinion boys live in virtual world.
5. Boys and girls talk their problem through with each other.

II. Read the text and choose the right answer to the question.

TOLERANCE WINS FRIENDS

I think that tolerance helps you to make friends. Tolerance means to respect other people’s likes and dislikes, opinions, and beliefs. It also means not to start an argument over something you disagree with and it means to keep things to yourself that could hurt other people’s feelings. If you don’t like what someone is wearing or something like that, you should keep it to yourself so you don’t hurt anyone’s feelings. Tolerance also means to be fair, and not make fun of people. It means to be kind, helpful, kind-hearted, thoughtful, and more.

Why does tolerance help to make friends?

a. You agree with everything.
b. You share other people beliefs and opinions.
c. You share other people’s likes and dislikes.
d. You respect beliefs, opinions, and behaviour different from your own.
